One fact about straight hair?

Here is an interesting fact. Naturally straight hair is round, like a piece of string. Naturally curly hair is flat, like a strip of tape. You can view the hair shafts under a microscope and see the difference.

To prove this to yourself, you can use a strip of giftwrapping ribbon that has the little ridges in it. The ridges are a good substitute for round(straight) hair. See how it streams down in a straight line?

Now, do this. If you're right handed, hold the ribbon at the top with your left hand fingers.

Take a pair of scissors and open them up all the way, using your right hand.

Place the ribbon between your right thumb and the scissor blade. Hold the ribbon very taught between your right thumb and blade, pressing kind of hard. Now quickly pull the blade down the length of the ribbon. Do it fast. I promise you won't cut yourself. This is how you curl ribbon.

After you do that, you'll see the ribbon quickly curl up in lots of curls. That's because you just flattened the ridges in it. Now it's like curly hair. Flat. Straight hair is round and that is why it hangs straight.

IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!
