Try a body perm first. Then, if you like it, try it full strength in a few months. Or, just roll it and let it dry and then let it loose for a one time effect. If you don't know how, let a stylist do it. Back in the 70's when fro's were popular, my husband (who was then just a guy in high school and we barely knew one another) had it pincurled by his mom every night. It came out like a fro every morning. I have naturally straight hair and have worn it short with a perm to long with a body wave and now just medium and straight. Sometimes I will have it rolled or use hot curlers or a hot iron or hot brush. If I just used mousse, it would just look stiff and straight.

Scrunch it. After showering flip your hair repeatedly to get the water out and to give it more volume. Then put gel on your hands and comb your hair with your fingers. Then, starting at the ends of your hair, raise it towards the roots, letting it fold in your hands. When it is at the roots, squeeze! Repeat this until all of your hair is in curls!
