i know a way that'll make your hair wavy but not permanant only for a day. i too have really straight hair and my hair doesnt hold curliness for so long. but i have this method that actually works for me and it doesnt involve sleeping overnight with braids. first you put up your hair in 2 french braids or regular braids. then spray them wet but not so wet that its dripping. then apply either mousse or hair gell into your hair and braids while its still wet. then blow dry your hair and take out your braids but dont comb it tussle it a bit with your fingers. And there you go wavy hair!hope it works for you good luck =]

Use curling gel and scrunch your hair when you get done washing your hair, when it's still wet..then when you blow dry it continue scrunching it but use cold water instead, then when it's dry you can scrunch it some more with cold water..then if its poofy/frizzy get a straightener and close/open it back and forth while moving the straightener down to the ends of your hair to make it more flat..hopefully this will work for you!=)

u cud try curl defining mousse from tressemme b4 blow drying your hair, then dont comb it after....you'll loosen the waves too much :D apply it through all your hair evenly and blow dry on a low setting.

if u can blast it w/ cool air from your dryer afterwards!

wash it first and then rub a little moisturizer in your hair from root to ends and then put a lot of mousse ( try one with no alcohol because the alcohol dries your hair out that can lead to breakage) in your hair then put about 8-10 braids going straight back in your hair sit under a dryer or if you don't have one let your hair air dry then finally once it's dry take them out and then you'll have a wavy headof hair.

With a large barrel curling iron. Curl AWAY from your face and tossel with fingers when yer done curling all of it. Maybe use a little wax to bring out some texture after. Use product before you blow it out, and sometimes day 2 hair works good for curls as long as yer hair is not oily.

you could get some of those soft curlers that you can sleep in.. make sure your hair is a little damp at night and roll it up and the next morning you should have curls.. you can also use something called dippy do when you curl it at night.. if it is still on the market.. my mom use to use that years ago.. just a small admount

you can buy a 3 barrel curler. It makes really good s waves. Go to a beauty store and they should have it. Don't get one by conair their products don't seem to work so well. Hope it helps.

wet braids overnight...or old fashion rag curls from the 30's and the 40's....cut up some rags or material. rap your hair wet (and with some product of moose or gel now a days) in the rag like you would a rod use for perming...and tie them up on the top of your head...these are much more comfortable to sleep on over nite...and the longer you keep them in te better...wake up and if they are totally dry...take them down and you should have big. loose rag curls!@ :O)
