Does curly or straight hair look better on me?

I'm deliberating getting another perm (my last one just finally faded out) but I'm just curious what looks better on me. I personally like the perm because it's less maintanence. Please no speels on perms being damaging etc. I'd just like to know what looks nicer.

honestly, you look awesome in both pictures. although, if you go ahead and get the perm and have one of those days you wish you had straight hair, just go to a beauty school and they'll wash, dry, straighten your hair for under $20. it will last for the day or until the next time you get your hair wet... but anyhoo... that is what i'd do, seeing as how i have straight hair and can't for the life of me get it curled and stay that way...

I liked both of the pictures...You can do different things with either hair type. The only thing that you should worry about is where you get your perm done, and what kind you use, because you dont want it to fry your hair!!

I used to have a spiral perm, and I loved how it looked!! All you had to do was wash it, moose it, and let it go!! But now its straight, and there is little that I can do with it!! So, I would probably go with a perm!!

We like both on you. By the way you have really pretty hair. But, what we think is if you want a professional life you should go with the straight perm. But, if you want to be more social and unique go with curly. Over all I think you would be more sucessful with straight. Good luck on which one you pick. (go with straight)

I would do one of two things:

Depth and texture is good, so that is why the perm is nice on you...

1. get the perm

2. stay straight and have your hair dyed a really pretty chocolate brown with some highlights..this will brighten up your face and make you look warmer (there is nothing wrong with the way you look now either, so you know!)

One thing I would suggest for either situation: Keep the hair longer as in the pic with the perm, but get some layers in it. Layers make the hair look thicker and fuller, and at the same time take some weight off for easier maintenance. Layers up to the eyes will also accentuate your nice cheekbones and eyes.

I have really thick straight hair also. I put styling mousse and gel in it and give it a messy look, so no comb is necessary. Without the styling products, my hair is 'poofy,' even after trying to comb it. Mousse especially helps because it holds your hair down, but doesn't make it hard.

If hair is naturally course or curly, work a straightening balm through hair. Here's a great list of balms .

Brush hair (this works the product evenly through hair). Blowdry hair straight, starting at the roots to get extra volume. Hair must be completely dry for this look to work. Blow cold air at the roots to add volume (cold air locks in a style).

Separate hair into three sections, securing with a ponytail holder. (It's easier this way to curl your way through each section).To curl hair, use a wide-barrel curling iron. Starting with one section, take a 1-inch portion of hair, spritz it with styling spray (again, I love Bumble and Bumble Styling Spray) or hairspray. Wrap hair around the barrel of the curling iron. (Wrapping hair is different from the traditional curling method. You don't want to 'clip' hair into the barrel. Wrapping allows you to curl all the way to the root). When you're curling, make sure to leave ends loose to avoid a crimp mark.

Release the curl after about 5-10 seconds (hold longer if you want a tighter curl). You should have a corkscrew curl.

Roll curl and bobby pin it close to the scalp. (I'm lazy, so I skip this step to save time).

Alternate the direction of the curl as you work your way through each section. (It's all in the direction you wind hair around the barrel of the curling iron. Start by placing hair on top of the barrel and wrapping around, then switch by putting the barrel on top of the hair before winding it around). Alternating directions makes curls look more natural. Some curls can remain tight, some loose.

Once pinned curls have cooled, release them.

Remove nozzle from dryer and gently loosen waves with cool air. You can also separate curls with your fingers, just make sure not to brush them out.

To add shine, spritz a hair serum . Stylist David Babaii finger-combs Biosilk Silk Therapy serum into actress Kate Hudson's hair (May 2007, InStyle). You can forego hair serum and spritz with saltwater spray. I like John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea spray.

Set with hairspray. Just don't overdue it, you don't want new waves to feel "crunchy."

Not sure - the only thing I can recommend it to grow it kinda long and spike it by using a super strength hair gel (sometimes called hair glue) so it will stay spiked. I recommend the brands BedHead or Garnier. Personally, I think this is a great look for asian guys.

This sounds crazy to me but i will do my best.

You could go and get a granny perm. The smallest tiniest rods will give you the kinkiest curl possible. You wouldnt be able to get a large afro going because asian hair has a different texture then african hair types. The cuticle is smoother and thinner. Asian hair is the hardest to add curl to because of the smooth cuticle. If you are lucky enough to get a frizzy curl going on the you will have to pick it out and use a styling product to give you hold like a gel or stiff hairspray.
